Spring Hill (formerly Grendon Hall)
South East England Trail.
Spring Hill has had a long and varied past. Originally a family home built in 1872, it was a wartime base for the MI6. From mid-June 1942, it was used by the SOE as a receiving station.
Noor's first transmission was received here, within 72 hours after her departure from Tangmere – the fastest response from any agent in the field after landing.
Spring Hill became Britain’s first Open Prison in 1953.
